Erhard Fischer est né à Coblence, en Allemagne. Il était entré au CERN (Organisation européenne pour la recherche nucléaire) en 1958 où il a commencé la recherche et développement de base sur des problèmes de vide très poussés pour les anneaux de stockage proposés de CESAR. Quand le projet des anneaux de stockage d'Intersecing (ISR) a commencé en 1965 il est devenu chef du groupe de vide et sous sa conduite les limites des grands systèmes de vide d'ultraligh ont été poussées aux records mondiaux, atteignant par la suite 3x10 12 torr de pression moyenne dans un puits à dépression de 2 kilomètres, avec également les effets de grands courants stockés de proton. 

Sa contribution fut primordiale aux succès d'ISR. En 1979 il s'est déplacé à travers pour devenir chef de CERN. la formation et l'éducation de s entretiennent où il a présenté un arrangement populaire de la formation à la gestion. Il s'est retiré en novembre 1986 après 28 ans au CERN. Tout le monde qui l'a contacté a été attiré par ses qualités professionnelles et une attitude profondément humaine.

Erhardt Fischer était passioné par l'histoire locale de Versoix, il était membre du Groupe d'histoire régionale d'Ecole & Quartier. Il a collaboré à l'écriture de " Versoix Genevoise" de Marcel Lacroix et "Les rues de Versoix" publiés par la commune. Le 13 novembre 1988 il s'est éteint, victime d'un cancer.

Erhard Fischer was born in Koblenz, Germany. He joined CERN (European Organization for Nuclear Research) in 1958 where he started basic research and development on very advanced vacuum problems for the proposed CESAR storage rings. When the Intersecing Storage Rings (ISR) project started in 1965 he became head of the vacuum group and under his leadership the limits of the major ultraligh vacuum systems were pushed to world records, eventually reaching 3x10 12 torr average pressure in a 2-kilometer vacuum well, also with the effects of large stored proton currents.

His contribution was crucial to the success of SRI. In 1979 he moved through to become CERN Chief. s training and education where he presented a popular understanding of management training. He retired in November 1986 after 28 years at CERN. Everyone who contacted him was attracted by his professional qualities and a deeply human attitude.

Erhardt Fischer was passionate about the local history of Versoix, he was a member of the Ecole & Quartier Regional History Group. He collaborated in the writing of "Versoix Genevoise" Marcel Lacroix and "The streets of Versoix" published by the municipality. On November 13, 1988 he died, a victim of cancer.
